ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE

Breaking Bread to Break Our Bias

A Taste of Curiosity meticulously crafts dining experiences that are more than a shared meal. They are a shared conversation about bias using the safety and vulnerability of food and drink.

Now more than ever as the #BlackLivesMatter movement continues to bring necessary conversations and changes to our way of life, we need to find a way as individuals to first become aware of our own biases so that we may use Compassionate Empathy to join the conversations and help bring the change.

This was born out of Breaking the Bias, a program and a strategy designed to help companies and individuals create tools, methods, and strategies that systematically change our ability to drive curiosity and inclusion.

If we’re curious about trying new flavors, perhaps we can be as interested in the people who create them and the cultures they come from. And within this awareness, we may be able to develop a curiosity for all people, things, and ideas.

Traditional unconscious bias trainings have, for the most part, been ineffective. This unique experience creates a safe space for a vulnerable conversation, using our natural curiosity of food and drink, that doesn’t point fingers and try to make you feel guilty. It level-sets with everyone that we all have bias and forges a path forward for building curious and conscious behaviors that help us to positively express our biases.

How Our Brain Receives Information Every Second

Our brains are like computers, processing millions of bits of data every second. Our eyes receive more of that data than all of our other senses combined. However, our brains don’t process most of that information – it just comes in and goes out without being saved into our long-term memory. So how can we consciously and intentionally learn to “remember” more information? You’ll learn some great ways to do that at a Taste of Curiosity experience.

“Eating is so intimate. It’s very sensual. When you invite someone to sit at your table and you want to cook for them, you’re inviting a person into your life.”
